What is formaldehyde?
Formaldehyde is the chemical substance that has the acute toxicity, and it has a strong odor. IARC alerts the risk causing of Group 1, Carcinogenic to humans.

How can you be exposed to formaldehyde?
You can find formaldehyde in various products—plywood, particleboard, building materials, insulation, furniture, cigarette smoke, etc. Therefore, we are constantly exposed to small amounts of formaldehyde emission from those products.

Application 1: As the coating agent

Competitive advantage

1: Mechanism to remove aldehyde gas

Generally, a formaldehyde eliminator is manufactured based on a neutralized effect. However, we developed a new technology of absorbing and eliminating formaldehyde formulated based on SiO2 with amino groups (NH2) by sol-gel method.

Moldefeat is made from silica that has the chemical treatment by the amino group. The amino group reacts against the aldehyde group, which leads to absorbing and eliminating formaldehyde gas.

Moldefeat has a unique adsorption structure, and to be formed of the steric constitution, it can be adsorbed with massive formaldehyde substance at the coated surface.

Since it is generated without gaps on the surface, the specific surface area is about 20 times that of the flat state. Therefore, it enables the adsorption of a large quantity of formaldehyde at once.
The number of these crystalline needles creates 400 million per square centimeter.

2: Long lasting efficacy

Moldefeat continues to eliminate formaldehyde gas for 4~5 years compared to other products that last only 1 or 2 years. Therefore, there is no need for frequent maintenance, and it leads to saving running costs.
