Non-Contacting Radar Level Gauge for Flood Disaster Management: KRG-10/Hybrid Level Gauge HC-10

loods pose a significant threat in many developing countries, often resulting in loss of life and property. Early warnings are essential for disaster preparedness, allowing people to evacuate flood-prone areas and implement appropriate countermeasures. Tokyo Keiki Inc.’s Non-Contacting Radar Level Gauge KRG-10 plays a crucial role in flood monitoring when integrated with warning systems or alarm triggers.

Furthermore, urban areas in developing countries increasingly face the risk of inland flooding, including overflow from maintenance holes. The Hybrid Level Gauge HC-10 provides a practical solution by detecting water accumulation beneath maintenance holes and transmitting data to integrated systems. These systems can then initiate alerts and control measures, such as gate and pump management, to mitigate flood-related risks.

Major Features and Advantages

  • Non-contact measurement for river, sea, and tank liquid
  • Maintenance-free due to non-mechanical structure
  • Rapid tracking with a speed of +/- 2m/sec
  • Maximum measurement range of 30m
  • Available in various antenna sizes and types
  • Special antennas designed for chemical liquids are available
  • Lightweight and easy to install
  • Weir flowmeter function is available

  • A hybrid model combining Radar and Pressure measurements
  • Non-contacting measurement for wastewater
  • Contacting (Pressure) measurement in an emergency
  • Automatic switch between Radar and Pressure when water levels exceed the radar’s range
  • Mutual calibration between radar and pressure sensors ensures precise measurement
  • Pressure sensors are placed on walls or structures, avoiding contact with sediments or debris at the bottom of water bodies

Technology Data

Possible applications

    • Its maintenance-free design minimises the need for extensive on-site maintenance and human intervention, allowing organizations to allocate resources to other essential tasks like sales, research, and production
    • KRG-10 does not require specialised training or expertise, making it accessible to a wide range of users
Easy installation, user-friendly software, and high accuracy ensure hassle-free operation
    • KRG-10 is particularly useful for measuring year-changing river levels, helping to foresee rising water levels in rivers in Developing countries

    • The expansion of wastewater networks in developing countries is on the horizon, and they will face inland flooding similar to that experienced in developed countries. In preparation for this future, wastewater treatment will be crucial, and our HC-10 can significantly contribute
    • Equipped with radar and pressure sensors that are optimized for precise measurements and require minimal maintenance. The radar sensor operates under standard conditions, with the pressure sensor acting as a backup during emergencies. In normal situations, the pressure sensor remains isolated above the water, leading to reduced maintenance compared to a basic pressure sensor installation
    • Users can monitor the screen during rainfall events when HC-10 is combined with upper system.
