Kenya SDGs Business Round-table Meeting in Osaka

On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, Osaka Prefectural Government, and the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Japan co-organized “Kenya SDGs Business Round-table Meeting in Osaka.”

It was attended by 10 companies, mostly from Kansai region, and focused on recent business and investment environment in Kenya.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Junta Nakahara, Associate Director General, Growth Industry Promotion Office, Department of Commerce, Industry and Labor of Osaka Prefectural Government, and followed by welcoming remarks by Mr. Paul M. Kaliih, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of the Republic of Kenya. In his remarks, Mr. Kaliih encouraged Japanese companies to actually visit and see business environment in Kenya. After that, each company briefly introduced themselves, and Ms. Heather Munyao, Investment Promotion Officer from the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest) gave a presentation on “Doing Business in Kenya.” She introduced the latest investment opportunities to Japanese companies, and explained that the Vision 2030 and the Big 4 Agenda formulated by Kenyan government are in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

The meeting was closed successfully as the participants stayed in the room to further discuss their interests with Mr. Kaliih and Ms. Munyao.
