About SCZone

Egypt’s economy has been growing rapidly in recent years, buoyed by discovery and production of offshore natural gas reserves since the year 2000. Its young population of more than 100 million people, as well as its diversity and geographical advantage linking the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia is contributing to attracting high attention from global investors. In particular, the Suez Canal, which connects the sea routes between Asia and Europe, has served as a key logistics hub for more than 150 years since its opening.

The Egyptian government has been developing the SCZone since the 2000s. Currently, 455 square kilometers are governed by the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal, an autonomous body with executive and regulative powers. The SCZone is actively developing the region’s infrastructure and attracting competitive projects in the agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, and is offering various incentives to private sectors.
