The “Industrial Development Report (IDR)” is a flagship report published by UNIDO every two years, focusing on different topics to discuss ways to achieve inclusive and sustainable industrial development. This launch event in Tokyo was held to present the highlights of the new IDR 2018.

After the opening and welcome remarks, representatives from the UNIDO Department of Policy, Research and Statistics presented the main findings of the report, followed by a panel discussion with panelists including leading specialists in the field.

IDR 2018 focuses on the importance of demand in the field of industrial development, and the two presentations from UNIDO stressed the importance of manufacturing and industrial development, while keeping the virtuous circle of industrial development sustainable.
