UNIDO ITPO Tokyo has organized an online seminar, “Tunisia Business Seminar” on 9 July 2020, jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia and Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia) .
Following the opening remarks of Mr. Yuko YASUNAGA, Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, H.E. Mr. Mohamed ELLOUMI, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Japan has mentioned countermeasures against COVID-19 in Tunisia, stating that Tunisia has opened its borders since 27 June and anyone arriving from green zone countries including Japan(*as of 9 July), will not be required for special measures.
He also referred to the strategic location of Tunisia as a gateway to European and African markets, and expressed expectations to further investment and business partnership by Japanese companies towards TICAD 8 in 2022.
Mr. Abdelbasset GHANMI, General Manager of Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia) presented how FIPA has assisted foreign investors as well as emerging innovative cases under the COVID-19 crisis. Then he introduced the latest investment opportunities in the field of automotive, ICT, agribusiness and renewable energy in Tunisia.
At the panel session, Mr. Naoki TAMAKI, Director General of New Energy and Power Finance department II from JBIC joined the speakers. In response to questions from the audience, each speaker expressed his views and topics mainly for renewable energy and agribusiness sectors were discussed.
*Japan has been classified as a medium risk country (orange) since 23 July and travelers from Japan must provide a result of RT-PCR test and will be subjected to self-quarantine. For more information, please visit the Tunisian Ministry of Public Health (French/Arabic).
