UNIDO ITPO Tokyo, jointly with Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), organized an online business matching with the following official and Mr. Tadesse Segni, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo Africa Advisor, from 14 to 25 March, 2022.

Main activities

Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) provides supports and services to domestic and foreign investors to promote investments in Uganda via information sharing, capacity building, entrepreneurship support, and global business strategy. This online delegate programme aimed to promote of the latest investment climate and business opportunities in Uganda to encourage Japanese business communities to further invest in the country. In the past, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo organized delegate programmes with UIA by inviting Ms. Hope Waira to physically visit Japan in September 2018 and May 2017.

During the programme period, Ms. Sarah Nassibwa to provide the information and advice that are applicable to each situation of the Japanese private companies during the online individual meetings. Mr. Tadesse Segni, the Africa Advisor of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo who covers Ethiopia, Uganda, and Rwanda, also participated in the meetings. Several Japanese companies participated, including the ones that are considering starting business in Uganda, or already doing business in Uganda. The companies were informed of UIA’s services as one-stop-center of the investment in Uganda. According to the feedback, the information was very helpful especially about the supports that they are eligible to receive such as incentives and investment licenses.

Ms. Nassimbwa also joined to the Uganda Business Seminar which was held online on 16 March, 2022 by UNIDO ITPO Tokyo with the co-organization of the Embassy of Uganda in Japan. Please find the details of the seminar in this event report page.

Profile: Ms. Sarah Nassimbwa

Sarah Nassimbwa is an investment Executive at Uganda Investment Authority in the Investment Promotion and Business Development Division. She possesses expertise knowledge and experience for over 7 years, in investment and business advisory services, social entrepreneurship as well as global business strategy approaches.

Sarah holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from Uganda Christian University – Mukono. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in social sciences from Makarere University. She holds a diploma in Global Business Strategy and a Certificate of training in Entrepreneurship in Emerging economies from University of Maryland Robert H Smith School of Business.
