Event Report: The International Day of Argan Tree (Argania) - Morocco

On March 3rd, 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 75-262 proclaiming May 10th as the International Day of Argan Tree. This endemic tree found in Morocco is widely recognized for its multipurpose use particularly in health care, gastronomy and cosmetics.

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo took part in the celebration of the International Day of Argania (Argan Tree) organized online by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Japan, led by H.E. Mr. Rachad Bouhlal, Ambassador. Mr. Yuko Yasunaga, Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo delivered a message of congratulations on the occasion, highlighting the importance that agri-food industries play in sustainable industrial development, and remembering efforts to promote Argan Oil with Japanese companies dating back some 20 years ago. Mr. Yasunaga indicated UNIDO’s willingness to continue developing economic and industrial ties between Morocco and Japan.
