UNIDO Tokyo hosted Mr. Isaac KALUA, Chairperson/Founder, Green Africa Foundation (Nairobi, Kenya), from 5 to 9 October 2009.
Mr. Kalua set up the Green Africa Foundation in 2000 after a long career in trading. He was deeply involved in environmental problems through cooperation with UNEP and other international institutions, and was endorsed by the government of Kenya to develop jatropha diesel. While in Japan, Mr. Kalua introduced the latest climate concerning jatropha development in Kenya through individual meetings with the Japanese private sector and governmental organizations. He also made a presentation in the “Recent Bio-fuel Development in Asia & Africa Seminar”, which took place on 7 October 2009, coinciding with the “BioJapan 2009” 7-9 October at Pacifico Yokohama.
