For the Tower Companies, we provide independent power feeds for up to 8 Mobile Network Operators, with independent energy measurements on each power feed. Extensive data logging on site as well as off site is done, and reports and trending are available at the click of a button if our NEC XON Software platform is used at the Network Operation Center. The NEC XON HSS® systems are remotely configurable and our engineers can provide remote assistance from anywhere in the world.

Major Features and Advantages

Key Benefits
How can I reduce OPEX on my network and Guarantee up time?
Answer:

  • Fuel efficient - DG run shorter increments - above 60% loading – maximum efficiency possible, no glazing, no dummy loads and no PSOC.
  • Full remote control and alarming.
  • Intelligent cooling – PLC or PC controlled – Forced feed cooling on batteries.
  • Charge with Grid, Solar, Wind or DG or any combination of all.
  • Li-Ion Charge rates 0.5C and Discharge rates up to 1.0C – Application depended.
  • 0.5C to 1C – Incell/Polarium Li-ion – (NMC).
  • 0.5C to 1C – Incell/Polarium Li-Ion– (LiFePo4).
  • Up to 9 x faster charging than Lead Acid technologies due to linear charge acceptance rate.
  • Up to 15-year Life span depending on cycle rate.
  • Generator is dynamically optimized for optimum power utilization.
  • Generator can be kept alive by the HSS® controller in “Limp-Mode” in cases of drastic loss of power. Anti stalling – Generator running at reduced power.

Possible applications

NEC CORPORATION and NEC XON, have extensive experience in designing, manufacturing, configuring, installing, and Commissioning Off-grid Hybrid Storage Systems across Africa, at all levels in the Telecommunications Industry, and we can deliver the right Hybrid Storage Solution, at the right location, on budget. Thanks to NEC HSS® Hybrid Storage Solution, Mobile Network Operator can use stable and efficient energy, plus Mobile Network Operator can reduce CO2 emission and Operating Expenses such as cost for fuel and fuel transportation cost to rural area.

Competitive advantage

  • Remote O&M for African needs
  • Laptop and/or desktop at operation center is able to remote control over 2G/3G/4G/Wi-Fi or WAN internet access for generator, alarm, operation monitoring, automated transfer switch, etc.
  • Onsite cabinet door open is controlled by approval of operation center. (for security in Africa)
  • Onsite HMI (Human Machine Interface) can remote control minimum O&M over internet without touching equipment.
  • System integration and African operation know how.
  • Depending on power load, capable of calculating site by site DG generation, PV generation, Storage capacity. Capable to use existing facilities.
  • Delivery within African region, installation and O&M contributes to cost minimization.
  • Remote O&M for African needs including security.
  • Automatic control of lithium ion battery – dropping charging speed when temperature exceeds 40C.

Performance

  • Before/After cost of diesel fuel 30-40% less
  • 50%+ less including fuel logistics cost
  • Li-Ion Charge rates 0.5C and Discharge rates up to 1.0C – Application depended.
    • 5C to 1C – Incell/Polarium Li-ion – (NMC).
    • 5C to 1C – Incell/Polarium Li-Ion– (LiFePo4).
    • Up to 9 x faster charging than Lead Acid technologies due to linear charge acceptance rate.
  • Fuel efficient – DG run shorter increments – above 60% loading – maximum efficiency possible, no glazing, no dummy loads and no PSOC.
