Electrodeless Germicidal Lamp: “SVI (Super Virus Inactivity) Light”

Electrodeless Germicidal Lamp: “SVI (Super Virus Inactivity) Light”

Nanatsubaki Inc. (Matsuzawa kawaraten Group)

UV-C Lamp to Sterilize Viruses and Bacteria, ’Super Virus Inactivity Light’ for Sanitary Use

Ultraviolet C (UV-C) is defined as an electromagnetic radiation with wavelength between 100 nm and 280nm. UV-C has been receiving a lot of attention as it can be applied for disinfection with proper use. The UV-C lamp “Super Virus Inactivity Light” developed by MATSUZAWA KAWARATEN Inc. can instantly sterilize air, water and surface of object by irradiating various bacteria and viruses with UV-C light derived from the electrodeless discharge.

The “Super Virus Inactivity Light” requires only a handful of space to install and produces stronger UV-C light than any other similar products in the market.

Technology Data

Possible applications

This product can disinfect all kinds of viruses with its UV-C light, and therefore, it is capable of disinfecting air, water and any object within the reach of the light.

Especially when it comes to disinfecting water, the electrodeless lamp produces not only UV-C light, but also ozone – approximately 6ppm – that dissolves into water and treats it by oxidizing all bacteria including Escherichia coli and viruses.

Our client in Brunei installed “Super Virus Inactivity Light” to an existing water circulation system (removes litters and other contaminants) of their swimming pool so as to replace chemical agent they had used such as chlorine to keep their water clean– allowed them to have a safe, clean and chemical free environment.

Competitive advantage

“Super Virus Inactivity Light” produces the strongest UV-C of its kind (wavelength of UV-C is mainly 254nm and its maximum intensity is 0.21-0.23 mw at a distance of 50cm) and can cover a large area. One of the models also generates ozone that sterilize, deodorize and remove slime.
This product is maintenance free once installed, and its lamp life is 50,000 hours with 3-year warranty.
This product can be easily attached to existing equipment and requires only a handful of space (i.e. W500mm×D800mm×H700mm for 250W model) including peripherals.

Due to the structure of the light emitting point of an LED lamp, the intensity of light emitted from one LED is weak, so a single LED cannot provide a high intensity of light emission. Therefore, it is necessary to use many LED elements in order to obtain an enough emission intensity, which requires a lot of power consumption. As a result, the amount of heat generated increases and the life is shortened due to thermal destruction.

Performance

The wavelength of UV-C radiated from 80W light is 254nm and its maximum intensity is 0.21-0.23 mw at a distance of 50 cm.
※mw = milliwatts for received light energy per square centimeter                                Fig. 3 Spectrum of “Super Virus Inactivity Light” (power consumption: 80W)

“Super Virus Inactivity Light” has an excellent bactericidal effect. It was confirmed that a kind of Escherichia Coli, NBRC3301 can be sterilized by UV-C radiation.
Testing condition: Irradiation: 80w-type, Distance 500mm, 15 seconds irradiation.
Result: 99.99% Confirmed death. Initially More than 80,000pcs NBRC3301⇒ 7Pcs only

Precautions

(1) Mercury recovery is designed and manufactured based on IEC62471 “Standard for photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems” and JIS safety standards of Japan. The UV light from the device does not leak outside, so it is safe because it does not directly or indirectly irradiate the human body.
(2) As for UV reflected light, it is safe because the reflected light does not leak outside and is not directly or indirectly irradiated on the human body.
(3) The UV light source has a structure that cannot be seen directly or indirectly and only the inside of the box is illuminated, so that it is safe.
(4) Regarding handling, we have established a thorough system by thoroughly disseminating handling precautions regarding construction and sales through safety education and safety programs.
(5) For amalgam alloys (mercury compounds), we will collect used lamps and recycle them using the Circular Economy as an Environment-Friendly game changer.

This project is based on SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). This project will create a foundation for SDGs that can lead to safe hygiene, health, and lifestyles based on sustainable environmental maintenance, and thereby improve and stabilize the levels of education, production, labor, and economics.
