Japan-UNIDO Multi-stakeholder Cooperation Dialogue “Partnering for Africa’s challenge on plastic litter”

Japan-UNIDO Multi-stakeholder Cooperation Dialogue “Partnering for Africa’s challenge on plastic litter”

Japan-UNIDO Multi-stakeholder Cooperation Dialogue “Partnering for Africa’s challenge on plastic litter” was held on 7 October 2019.

On the occasion of UNIDO’s high-level visits, UNIDO has been regularly organizing the dialogue with public and private stakeholders in Japan, with an aim to strengthen the collaboration with UNIDO.

This time, given that the G20 Resource Efficiency Dialogue week was held in Japan to follow up the G20 Osaka Summit, in which “Osaka Blue Ocean Vision” was shared for reducing additional pollution by marine plastic litter to zero by 2050, speakers and panelists from Africa and Japan in private, public and academic sectors actively discussed solutions to reduce marine litter from their own perspectives.

The event, attracting around 100 participants, helped reaffirm the commitment of UNIDO, as a leading UN agency promoting circular economy and resource efficiency on industry, to an effective partnership with all stakeholders in Japan and Africa to tackle with marine plastic issue in Africa.
