TICAD VI Side Event “Technology Enabling Innovation and Industrialization in Africa” on 27 August, 2016 [Nairobi]

UNIDO ITPO Tokyo cooperated with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), the Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA), and the Japan Productivity Center (JPC), to organize a side event on 27 August at the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI), with the theme “Technology Enabling Innovation and Industrialization in Africa”.

TICAD LogoThe seminar attracted 158 participants from both public and private sectors in Africa and Japan, and featured interactive discussions and exchanges on Africa’s industrialization. Government and business representatives from African countries, including from Kenya, making up the majority of the seminar participants expressed high expectations towards Japan in the areas of productivity improvement, human resources development, technology transfer and investment promotion, which were highlighted in the seminar.

During TICAD VI, UNIDO Headquarters also organized a side event on 26 August, at the Kenyatta International Conference Center, together with African Union Commission and Government of Kenya, where a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by JETRO and UNIDO (Press Release).
