UNIDO ITPO Tokyo invited a delegate from the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius; Mr. Radhakrishna Neelayya, Market Development Manager, Global Outreach Strategic Business Unit, from 2-8 June 2019. Mr. Arvind Radhakrishna, Head of the Global Outreach Strategic Business Unit also visited Tokyo and attended the whole programme.

Profile

The Economic Development Board (EDB) is the leading organization under the Prime Minister’s Office of Mauritius. The EDB is responsible for strategic economic planning of the country as well as promotion of investment and trade. Mr. Neelayya has been engaged in promotion of foreign direct investment in Mauritius for more than 13 years. His duty at EDB includes development of new markets for investment and trade promotion and facilitation of economic diplomacy initiatives of Mauritius. Besides managing the EDB overseas representative offices, he is working closely with Japanese counterparts to expand EDB’s network in Japan.

Activities in Japan

During his stay, Mr. Neelayya had individual meetings with Japanese companies and organizations that are interested in expanding their business in Mauritius and shared information on the latest business environment and investment opportunities in the country. He also gave a presentation at “Seminar on Investment and Business Opportunities in Mauritius” held at the United Nations University on June 5, and visited several office premises to establish the EDB’s new representative office in Tokyo.
