Bangladesh
UNIDO ITPO Tokyo hosted Mr. Jalalul Hai, Director, Foreign Investment, Board of Investment (BOI) of Bangladesh as an investment promotion officer from 17 May to 2 June 2010. He has been working for BOI over 20 years, and visited Japan many times since 1994. He is in charge of all aspects of investment activities of foreign, including Japanese, investors. While in Japan, Mr. Hai introduced the country’s latest investment climate focusing on business opportunities through individual meetings with the Japanese private sector at Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. South Africa (Limpopo)
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Mr. Samuel Maloka, International Marketing Manager, International Operation Division, Trade & Investment Limpopo (TIL) of South Africa, as an investment promotion expert from 12 to 27 April 2010. Mr. Maloka has been in charge of all aspects of foreign investment promotion and implementation in Limpopo Province since he joined TIL in 2008. While in Japan, Mr. Maloka introduced the latest investment climate of the province and promote the sectors such as energy and food processing through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. UNIDO Tokyo hosted Mr. Phouthasack Souvannasao, Acting Director of Planning Strategy and Service Division, Investment Promotion Department (IPD), Ministry of Planning and Investment, Lao PDR, as an investment promotion expert from 15 to 26 March 2010. Mr. Phouthasack has been in charge of all aspects of investment promotion and implementation in Laos since he joined the Ministry in 1998. While in Japan, Mr. Phouthasack introduced the latest investment climate of the country and promote the sectors such as energy and food processing through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. Kenya
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Isaac P. KALUA, Chairperson/Founder, Green Africa Foundation (Nairobi, Kenya), from 9 to 12 March 2010 as an investment promotion officer. Mr. Kalua set up the Green Africa Foundation in 2000 after a long career in trading. He was deeply involved in environmental problems through cooperation with UNEP and other international institutions, and was endorsed by the government of Kenya to develop jatropha diesel. While in Japan, Mr. Kalua introduced the latest climate concerning Green Industry in Kenya through individual meetings with the Japanese private sector and governmental organizations. Botswana
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Ms. Reitumetse APHIRI, Manager, International Markets, Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority (BEDIA), from 16 to 27 November 2009. Ms. Aphiri has been placed in charge of investment promotional activities at BEDIA since 2003. While in Japan, Ms. Aphiri introduced the investment climate of the country through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. Jordan
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Ms. Muna GAMMOH, Country/Sector Promoter, Investment Promotion Depertment, Jordan Investment Board (JIB), from 9 to 20 November 2009. Ms. Gammoh has been engaged in promoting and generating investments from Japan and India, mainly in water, energy and transportation since she joined JIB in March 2009. While in Japan, Ms. Gammoh introduced the investment climate of the country and promote sectors such as agriculture, textiles,chemicals, energy and utilities, ICT, pharmaceutical, construction, tourism, through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. He also made a presentation in the "Recent Bio-fuel Development in Asia & Africa Seminar", which took place on 7 October 2009, coinciding with the "BioJapan 2009" 7-9 October at Pacifico Yokohama. Egypt
UNIDO ITPO Tokyo hosted Mr. Hatem ALI, Deputy Director, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Arab Republic of Egypt as an investment and technology promotion officer from 27July to 7 August 2009. He has over 18 years of experience in the field of water and environmental engineering, and has held the present post since 2002. While in Japan, Mr. ALI introduced water and environmental projects in Egypt through individual meetings with the Japanese private sector and other relevant organizations, and through a seminar titled “Egypt Water Technology Seminar” in Tokyo on 3 August. Nigeria
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Ms. Hajjagana Wakil MUSTAPHA, Assistant Director, Investment Promotion Office, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission - NIPC, and Mr. Latifu Gbadebowale SALAMI, Deputy Director (Industrial), Small and Medium Enterprises Division, Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry - FMCI, from 15 to 26 June 2009. Ms. Mustapha has been placed in charge of investment promotional activities at NIPC since 1999. Mr. Salami has been working for FMCI over 30 years, and has held the present post since 2002 after working in several Industry Development Centers. While in Japan, Ms. Mustapha and Mr. Salami introduced the investment climate of the country through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. Croatia
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Mr. Marko Jurcic, Director, Strategic Planning Division of the Trade and Investment Promotion Agency of Croatia (APIU) from 6 to 24 April 2009. Mr. Jurcic joined APIU in October 2005 after working in publishing and banking. Having served as Director of ICT, he took up his current post and is in charge of FDI inflows from the Asian market, especially from Japan. He is engaged in overall coordination for potential investors as well as investors already doing business in Croatia, offering such services as seminar organization, information services, arrangement of meetings and visits, etc. While in Japan, Mr. Jurcic introduced the investment climate and business opportunities of the country through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations. Peru
UNIDO Tokyo hosted Mr. Ricardo Diaz, Investment Promotion Officer, of ProInversion - Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru, from 16 February to 23 February 2009. After working for the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Peru as a Policymaking Analyst, Mr. Diaz joined ProInversion in 2006 and is responsible for implementing investment projects. While in Japan, Mr. Diaz introduced the investment climate of the country and promising projects focusing on agricultural processing products (dried vegetables, cam cam, cassava etc.), agro-fishery processing products (giant squid, nori, anchovy etc.) through individual meetings with the private sector and other relevant organizations.
