Mr. Oscar M. Silembo (Zambia) Zambia
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Oscar M. Silembo, Senior Water Quality Officer, the Ministry of Energy and Water Development in Zambia and Mr. Zvikomborero Manyangadze, Senior Water Pollution Control and Ecology Officer, the Ministry of Water Resources and Infrastructural Development in Zimbabwe under the technology transfer programme for 2 weeks from 27 September 2004. This programme focused on the extraction of water hyacinths in Kariba Lake and its use. While in Japan, the delegates collected information on technologies regarding waterweed collecting/cutting boats developed in Japan, and fertilizer and feed used for water hyacinths. Russia (Far East)
UNIDO Tokyo invited Sergey Verolaynen, Deputy Chairman of the Economic and Management Committee, Vladivostok City Administration, as an investment/technology transfer promotion expert from 13 (Monday) September to 21 (Thursday) October 2004. While in Japan, Mr. Verolaynen introduced the investment climate of the Russian Far East and investment/technology transfer projects focusing on wood processing, marine products (including processing and culturing) and energy. Investment seminars and meetings were held in Hokkaido, Niigata and others cities. Anyone interested in doing business in the Russian Far East, please contact the person in charge.

India (Gujarat)
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Kirtankumar VYAS, Dy. General Manager of Dyestuff and Pharmaceuticals, Project and Technology Division of the Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), a governmental organization of Gujarat, as a technology and investment promotion officer from 17 May to 18 June 2004. While in Japan, Mr. Vyas introduced the investment climate of the country and investment projects focusing on chemicals and pharmaceuticals through individual meetings with Japanese companies and a seminar in Tokyo on 14 June. Albania
UNIDO Tokyo invited Ms. Estela DASHI, Executive Director of the Albania Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (ANIH), from 16 (Sunday) May to 29 (Saturday) May 2004. ANIH, a newly established organization last year, has been placed in charge of investment promotion activities supported by international organizations such as OECD. While in Japan, Ms. Dashi participated in the Investment Promotion Seminar for South East Europe at the JICA Tokyo International Center on 25 (Tuesday) May 2004 and other related activities. Sri Lanka
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. M.H.K.M. Hameez as an investment promotion expert from the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka from 10 (Monday) May to 11 (Friday) June 2004. Mr. Hameez joined BOI in 2000 and has been placed in charge of investment promotional activities in East Asia, policymaking, and providing services for investors. While in Japan, Mr. Hameez introduced the investment climate, promising investment fields in Sri Lanka, such as the IT, electronic, and automotive industries, and related projects to Japanese industries. Morocco
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Karim Benejelloun, Senior Advisor of the Department of Investments in Morocco, from 10 (Monday) May to 17 (Thursday) June 2004. Egypt
UNIDO Tokyo invited Dr. Shamloula Tahany Fahmy, General Manager of Investment Services, General Authority for Investment and Free Zone (GAFI) in Alexandria, Egypt from 22 March to 23 April 2004. After graduating from the Department of Commercial Science at Tanta University, Egypt, Dr. Shamloula obtained a Master's of Science in Economics at Southern Illinois University and a Ph.D. in Economics at Alexandria University, Egypt. She joined GAFI in 1985 and has been placed in charge of investment promotional activities. While in Japan, she introduced the investment environment and business opportunities of Egypt thorough individual meetings with Japanese private companies and related organizations and holding an investment seminar on 16 April 2004 in Tokyo. Mongolia
UNIDO Tokyo invited Ms. Jigjid Oyunchimeg, Head of the Business and Investment Support Centre, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MNCCI) from 2 to 27 February 2004. After working for a construction company and the Mongolian Trade & Industry Promotion Agency, she joined MNCCI in 1999. At MNCCI, she is in charge of management guidance for small-medium enterprises, and also, does consultation work on investment and trade. While in Japan, she introduced the investment climate of Mongolia and promoted investment and technology transfer projects that focused on cleaner production. Bulgaria
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Atanas Traykov, vice-chairman of the Foreign Investment Agency in the Republic of Bulgaria, for one month from 31 October 2003. While in Japan, Mr. Traykov was involved in investment, technology transfer and JI promotional activities (Joint Implementation (JI) projects under the Kyoto Protocol) by introducing IT industry projects and environmental projects, which focus on the effective use of energy through individual meetings and seminars with Japanese entrepreneurs. The Republic of the Philippines
UNIDO Tokyo invited Ms. Lina E. Batallones, Manager of the One-stop Action Center, Board of Investment (BOI), from 16 June to 18 July 2003 as an Investment Promotion Expert. While in Japan, she was involved in investment promotional activities focusing on IT software, which included outsourcing, electric/electronics, and the automobile industries in the Philippines, through individual meetings with Japanese private sectors. Ms. Batallones joined BOI after graduating from the Department of Commerce at the University of Sto.Tomas. As a career staff member in BOI, she is currently engaged in consultation work related to investment law, regulations, and procedures, advising foreign/domestic investors. Her primary role is to introduce business partners to investors. She is also in charge of negotiations with related government officials. South Africa
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Stefan Raubenheimer from 21 (Wednesday) to 31 (Saturday) May 2003 launching the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Investment Promotion Expert Programme. After working as a lawyer and consultant, he has been involved extensively in CDM projects since 1999. Currently, he works for the SSN (South-South-North) project, a comprehensive pilot programme for delivering CDM projects to multilateral countries, as a project coordinator. He also continues consulting work for climate change and the environment as Chairperson on the Board of South African Climate Action Network (CAN). While in Japan, he introduced policies, system and regulations on carbon credit, updated information on the CDM process, and CDM projects in South Africa. Brazil
UNIDO Tokyo invited Mr. Jose Roberto Moreira from 12 (Monday) to 21 (Wednesday) May 2003 launching the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Investment Promotion Expert Programme. After obtaining a Ph.D. in physics at the Institute of Physics at the University of Sao Paulo, he has worked as the Undersecretary of Energy at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, President of the Brazilian Society for Energy Planning, etc. Currently, in addition to teaching at the Institute of Physics at the University of Sao Paulo, he works for UNEP as a Global Warming Consultant and the International Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) as a CDM expert. While in Japan, he introduced the policies, system and regulations on carbon credit, updated information on the CDM process, and CDM projects in Brazil. China Yunnan
UNIDO Tokyo invited Ms. Pang Zemin from Yunnan Province, China as an investment promotion expert for two months from 4 February 2003 (Tuesday). Ms. Pang works for the Yuxi Municipal Investment Promotion Bureau as a director of the Investment Administration Department. During her stay in Japan, she introduced the investment climate of Yunnan Province and promising industrial sectors for foreign investments focusing on projects that require Japanese assistance by holding seminars and individual meetings with Japanese entrepreneurs.
